Born in 1930 in Farnworth, Lancashire, Frank Tyson was regarded as one of the fastest bowlers ever. He took 76 wickets in just 17 Test matches. He was turned down by his native county, after trials, 'because he dipped at the knee'. His career was curtailed by a persistent heel injury, which he later blamed on ill–fitting boots. After retiring from professional cricket he married an Australian woman and emigrated, becoming a successful schoolmaster and cricket coach. He died in Gold Coast, Queensland, in 2015.
